Within today's rapidly changing recording climate there are many steps that are often overlooked. Seeing that mixers we do understand and can, with reality, empathize in a lot of artists who expect professional results on a budget. However, we've noticed a good deal of emphasis plus grand expectations being positioned upon us as although we are miracle employees. Regarding course, we don't expect all musicians/songwriters to be producers. Or all producers to be engineers. Or all engineers to be vocal tuners and editors. Or all engineers to be mixers. Conversely, we wouldn't expect most of the "technophiles" to understand very much close to music either.
I am going to offer any overview of the Mix Prep Guidelines that I mail to all of my customers. It should give you some pertinent discernment on how to correctly prepare your combine sessions.
Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

1 General Guidelines. Mixed Martial Arts Mixed Martial Arts News.
1. We will accept Firewire hard drives and CDRs/DVDRs. We do not accept 24-track analog or 48-monitor digital tapes. If your project is one of these formats, YOU Must Complete THE Transfer.
2. If using any other recording software such being Nuendo, Cubase, Digital Performer, Logic, Sonar, etc., please amalgamate your tracks from the beginning about session (bar 1 or 00:00.000) in 24 little .wav or .aiff files and include the tempo of the song. *We favor BFW files.
4. Any audio CD about the latest "Rough Mix" need to be sent along with the ProTools files. If the "Rough Mix" plus the ProTools files don't match exactly, a brief note should be sent along explaining the difference (i.e. "The song was re-sung" or "We redid drums"); if this is the case, please make a new "Rough Combine" CD. The reason for this remains if the arrangement is different and no explanation remains given, we start to question whether or not we have the proper session.
- The instructions on the subsequent steps are to be passed along to your ProTools engineer.
1. Controlling any session: Only one session should be sent with each title. It should be labeled as "Melody Title For Mix." No other sessions should be involved. It should be notated obviously and correctly so there is no misunderstanding what a component is. Parts That ARE Not Used Should BE DELETED. Not concealed, except deleted. Hidden tracks will be deleted. This also includes playlists not being used. Remove Them (The quantity only cause with Huge files is all the unused playlists). It yous very simple to clean up from a session and then "Save Session Copy In..." checking the "All Audio Files" box to conserve a new session plus audio files. Generate sure you "Delete Unused Regions" from the session initial very they don't take upward disk place inside the new session. Make assured that is you open up this session also that there are no lost audio files. (If audio files are missing, whether they are becoming applied or never, I will issue the validity of the entire session.)
2. Automation and Plug-ins: Record any effects that are component of the song's integrity. For instance, a guitar going through "Amp Farm" or a "Telephone Vox" effect. Label it, then conserve the original and generate sure you Clearly LABEL that is it was unaffected sound within the note page. Once this has been done, REMOVE ALL PLUG-INS.
All automation should be removed from the session. Disabling the master automation remains not what we mean. Delete every and all volume moves, mutes, automated plug-ins also act away from the personal channels.
3. Track Labeling: Since there is no normal for this, we inquire you to expend some spare time and label the instruments thus that there is no guessing what they are. I can't tell you how many times we've gotten monitors labeled in "hieroglyphics."
4. Vocals: Lead Vocal should be marked as like: "Ld Vox" not "John Vocal 2." The same for vocal doubles--"Ld Vox Dbl."
5. Instruments: Notate the main instruments since such: i.e. "Main Gtr", not "Joey SG6" (add the suffix "L" or "R" if there is some set of them). Including the area that they play is also helpful, i.e. "Brdg Pad," not "Virus" (this yous the pad that is ONLY performs from the bridge).
Unless here yous more besides 1 mic on each and every drum or area, we don't need to know what the mic is, rather what the sound remains. (If you must leave the mic info, place it on the note page or from the comments box.)
3 Swap Instrumentation
We understand that it's impossible to make ALL the decisions prior to the mix, so if here are questionable elements that is you may well or may possibly never want to use; these should have "?" in top of them, i.e. "Brdg Gtr Line." We will use discretion as to whether or not these will be used.
In all instruments, any notes from the comment boxes are helpful.
4 Editing
1. Please make clear all about your tracks are click and pop-free of charge in working cross fades on adjoining areas and fading on also outside on the beginning and end of regions.
2. Please delete any extraneous noises on your tracks such as guitar amp hum before the actual part is becoming played, headphone bleed, throat clearing, coughing plus chair squeaking in between vocal or musical phrases.
3. Some vocal tuning also or vocal/instrument aligning must be done preceding to mixing.
5 Recalls and Delivery
1. After your mix is roughly 90 percent complete, we will deliver you a model regarding the work in progress via email/ftp. At this point you need to generate any list of each changes, comments and suggestions so we can in that case proceed to finish your masterpiece.
2. After the changes you listed are comprehensive we will send you another duplicate to your approval.
3. If you still need to generate any extra tweaks you are entitled to one two-hour recall session per song.
